Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can you tell me more about Project Uplift?

Project UPLIFT is a 40-week community/afterschool-based mentoring and education program for youth with multiple risk factors.

The program employs a one-on-one and group mentoring strategy. Mentors meet with youth in the community and/or on their school campus during lunch or after school to achieve the project's goals and objectives.

    1. Identifying, recruiting, and training Mentors/Tutors from all sectors of the community.

    2. To cultivate and apply youth leadership, life/social, and resiliency skills.

    3. To raise academic achievement and instill a commitment to a "Higher Education" culture.

    4. To cultivate a strong sense of self-worth through education, culture, history, and community service.

    5. To provide Mentors with a development and training ground as well as social opportunities.

  • Why do we mentor?

Mentoring nourishes the soul; it brings us great joy to know that we are making a difference in the lives of the youth we have mentored over the years. Each smile we create and life we help turn around through mentoring is worth more than its weight in gold, making us the richest people on the planet... richer even than Bill Gates!"
